‘Owner Builder Assist’ is a Project Management and building advice service that specialises in assisting Owner Builders in getting their new house built, cheap, quick and to a high standard of workmanship. We have a list of professional tradesmen that can help you in your build or we will work with your trades to ensure that you are getting value for money and not ‘getting lead down the garden path’. The level of input from us is entirely up to you. We can do everything from hourly rate when you need us through to full project management of the site from start to completion.

Did you know that lots of builders make the majority of their profits on inflated variations when you ask for changes during the build. Doug Misipeka, personally has had over 30 years experience in the building industry. He loves a challenge and thrives on solving problems as he leads a close-knit team of honest and reliable tradespeople, each with extraordinary attention to detail. Doug especially enjoys building innovative homes, tailored to meet the unique needs of his valued clients. One of his proudest achievements was having James Hardie feature one of his homes for promotional purposes, due to its unique style and superior quality.

We take responsibility for everything that we commit to and remain in communication throughout the building process. We believe honesty, integrity, reliability and punctuality are the keys to our ongoing success.

Brian Brown

Brian is the owner and founder of “Better Business Now” a Business Coaching / Consultancy and Marketing business that has been operating since 2001 which consults to small to corporate businesses on how to improve their businesses using proven marketing and sales processes. Brian has personally consulted to hundreds of businesses giving advise to a broad range of business types within Australia and overseas. He has presented at seminars and workshops and has been a regular guest expert for a TV business program. Brian also currently owns various other businesses too.

Now… none of this is really important it’s just to show that Brian is busy and became an Owner Builder out of need not by choice and this is how ‘Owner Builder Assist’ was born.

When looking to find builders to build his 5 level 3 storey custom designed home on a sloping small allotment with no access there weren’t too many builders around who wanted to do it, even though most said they would. Over a 18 month period Brian ended up speaking with multiple builders as most said they were happy to quote and do the job and then never heard from them again – those who did supply quotes ranged from ‘no fixed costs’ just price all subject to variations to some quoting over double what the project cost was. The frustrations of wasting time with builders who never bothered to get back, others with ridiculous prices and conditions and others who simply inflated costs thinking the customer wouldn’t know (Brian’s business consults to the building trade and knows internal margins and costs) pushed Brian in the direction of being an Owner Builder. From this Brian found very quickly that there was no support / service available to help Owner Builders like himself and that’s when he met Glenn Bradford (to assist with his own project) and together they put together Owner builder Assist to help others.
